Starting her career as a 'Big Four' CPA and later orchestrating investments as a portfolio manager with a major Wall Street firm, Cindy Gatlin brings her considerable financial bonafides to Northern Trust, working to ensure that her clients develop and maintain a holistic comprehension of their wealth along with the peace of mind that comes with such understanding.


A resident of Solana Beach, Cindy grew up in Canada before migrating to California by way of New York and Texas. After earning an HBA from the University of Western Ontario, Cindy worked as an auditor and manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers on major accounts such as Sony, MTV and Philip Morris. She joined the wealth management business in 2009, joining Merrill Lynch Dallas and formed her award-winning team. She became a community leader as chair of the board of the Dallas Opera and chair of fundraising for the Junior League of Dallas. Since relocating to San Diego in 2016, Cindy worked for a regional Registered Investment Advisor and briefly ran her own firm before being recruited by Northern Trust.

Community Involvement

A member of the executive committee for the San Diego Estate Planning Council, Cindy is also active with the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), ProVisors, North County Estate Planning Council (NCEPC), Chairmen's Roundtable (CRT), Corporate Directors Forum (CDF) and The Brink at the University of San Diego. In addition, she is a board member for Zero8hundred and a former board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters San Diego.

She is a regular speaker and panelist for groups related to the field of finance. Cindy has been recognized with several awards, including 2020 Women in Finance from the San Diego Business Journal, 2018 Woman of the Year Finalist from the San Diego Business Journal, 2017 Excellence in Leadership Award from Texas Wall Street Women and was named a Top Financial Advisor from Dallas Magazine in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In her inaugural class at Merrill Lynch, Cindy ranked in the Top Tier of her peers (First Decile).
