Experience

Scott joined Northern Trust in 2010 and managed a $3.5 billion investment team in the firm’s Chicago office. In 2018 he relocated to Denver. Scott’s areas of expertise include advising privately owned companies on strategic and financing alternatives. His thirty years of capital markets experience includes extensive work within the natural resources sector, including working with energy companies and MLPs. Scott has spoken on topics including economic conditions and securities markets. Scott has eleven years of investment banking experience, including eight years with Dean Witter Reynolds in New York and three years with ABN AMRO in Chicago. He also led M&A efforts for a family office for three years. Scott’s equity capital markets work includes 18 IPOs and many follow-on offerings, raising common equity, preferred equity and mezzanine capital. Scott has advised on various sell-side and buy-side M&A assignments and led capital raising efforts for numerous structured products and other investment vehicles, including three MBS funds for Jeff Gundlach. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Scott was the founder and manager of a long-short equity fund. Scott is also the former CFO of a technology start-up.

Community Involvement

Scott is a member of the CU Denver Business School Board of Advisors and is a guest lecturer in the school’s MBA program. He is also a member of the Legacy Planning Advisory Committee for the Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation. Scott is on the Investment Committee and the Ambassador’s Board at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, a Chicago-based children’s charity that provides shelter, educational support, and life guidance for at risk youth. Scott’s volunteer activities have included tutoring and coaching club soccer.
