Themes from 2023 so far – and what they mean for our industry. This article shares my thoughts on the implications of this year’s themes of inflation volatility, liquidity concerns and deglobalisation – and the tools required for navigating these conditions. These include the ability for asset allocators to make and execute decisions more quickly, and greater flexibility for their investment infrastructure.

Data automation continues to evolve at such a rapid pace, it is critical that asset owners create data management frameworks as it is changing the investment landscape.

For asset owners, three key trends shaping the future are the fact that they are working collectively in greater numbers to leverage change, that they are focusing on how data insights can improve performance, and that they are increasing their focus on core values.

Change is constant, and that is a good thing. The institutional investment industry has seen significant change in recent years, and it continues to grow and evolve in multiple ways.

Managing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations has become a key priority for asset managers and asset owners. There has been a recognisable global shift, as investment businesses position themselves for a future where ESG is embedded in decision-making and investment practices. However, asset managers and asset owners are still determining what the future holds for risk and performance related impacts to their portfolios.
